Roblox isn't a single game — it's a platform with millions of different experiences created by the community itself. That means the first big decision isn't 'how to play', but 'what to play'. This guide covers the basics to get you started right.
First Steps
- Complete the account setup and confirm your birth date correctly — this determines which experiences show up for you
- Customize your avatar under Avatar > Customize before jumping into your first game
- Browse the Discover page to see games recommended by category
- Add friends you actually know before accepting requests from strangers
Use search and filter by category (Simulator, Roleplay, Obby, RPG) to find games in the style you enjoy most, instead of just following what's trending.
How Robux Works
Robux is the platform's currency, used to buy avatar items, gamepasses and special access inside games. You can buy Robux with real money or earn it through the Developer Exchange if you're a creator — there's no legitimate way to get free Robux outside those two paths.
Be wary of any site, video or 'generator' that promises free Robux in exchange for your login. That's always a scam and can result in your account being stolen.
